Wrestling to Host Fifth Annual Appalachian Open

BOONE, N.C. — For the fifth year, Appalachian State University wrestling will open Varsity Gym and host the annual Appalachian Open on Saturday, Jan. 28.

Athletes from all across the East Coast are welcome and expected to participate. The event is open to any all entrants post-High School and all weight class divisions are welcome. NCAA rules will be followed and riding time will be used.

Those wishing to register should head to www.wrestlereg.com and sign up as registration is limited to the first 250 wrestlers. 

Participating in the Appalachian Open costs just $40 per wrestler (any wrestler that doesn't make the weight class they are registered for will have to pay an additional $20 to bump up a weight class) with entry fee due at the time of registration. Registration closes at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 25.

Those wishing to come out and enjoy the event will be able to purchase tickets at the door. Tickets cost just $7 for adults and $3 for children (under 10 years old).

Wrestling will begin at 9 a.m. on Jan. 28 with weigh-ins happening at 7 a.m., all at Varsity Gym.
