About the Mountaineers

Last Time Out
Backed by Madi Story's 31 points, the Mountaineers picked up their largest margin of victory with a 13-point win (71-58) over North Carolina A&T on Sunday. Story tied her career best while shooting 12-of-20 from the floor and 7-of-10 from the charity stripe. App State scored a season-high 50 points in the paint and converted 22 Aggie turnovers into 27 points.

What to Watch for
• In the five games Story has scored 20 or more points, she has shot 70 percent (17-24) and averaged nearly eight points in the first quarter, getting off to a strong start. If Story is expected to have another performance like Wednesday, starting aggressive will be the key.

• The Apps score 75.8 percent of their points from inside the paint and the free throw line. See if the Mountaineers can get to the line and establish a presence inside the paint to put points on the board.

•  App State scored 23 points in the first quarter against NC A&T on Wednesday, which was the most in any opening quarter this season. The Mountaineers average 16.5 points in the first quarter in their four wins compared to just 7.3 in the three losses. See if App State can start fast like it did against the Aggies.

•  Appalachian has held opposing team's leading scorer to 35 percent shooting or less. See if the Mountaineers can contain Destinee Walker on Sunday.

• The Mountaineers are 4-0 this season when scoring 65 or more points. Watch if App State can get the offense going to reach that number.

Getting to the Paint
 • With the Apps struggling from outside the arc this season, the Apps have made it a point to get inside the paint to score.

•  App State is 4-0 this season when scoring 30 or more points in the box.

•  The Mountaineers scored a season-high 50 points in the paint in the win over North Carolina A&T.

•  Last season, the Apps scored 50 points in the paint in two games while winning both contests in the process.

Turning Offense Into Defense
•  The Mountaineers are averaging 19.7 points off of turnovers this season, three more points than last season.

•  App State is 3-1 this season when scoring 20 or more points off of turnovers.

•  Appalachian is forcing 21.3 turnovers per game this season, compared to 17.4 turnovers last season.

•  App State has scored at least 20 points off its opponents' mistakes in four of seven games and 25 or more points in three contests.
