BOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State University wrestling made program history on Tuesday, coming in at its highest ranking ever in the InterMat Division I duals meet national rankings at No. 21 after taking town then-No. 15 Oregon State 25-15 at home on Nov. 12.

The Mountaineers (2-0) jumped from unranked in the poll and is now the highest ranking member of the Southern Conference in two major polls, also ranking No. 23 in the USA Today/NWCA Division I Wrestling Coaches Poll this week.

Appalachian State also features five wrestlers this week who rank in the top 25 in their respective weight classes in many polls.

149 · Matt Zovistoski · Record: 4-2 · Paramus, N.J./St. Joseph Regional

The sophomore 149-pounder broke into his best ranking week yet after being 4-2 through two weeks. Despite suffering a setback against No. 19 Joey Dalgado on then-No. 15 Oregon State on Saturday, Zovistoski came in second during the Southeastern Open , going 4-1 on the day. The New Jersey native used victories over North Carolina, Princeton and Maryland to place second, securing his top 20 ranking going forward.

The junior 165-pounder had a terrific outing in Mountaineer Duals on Saturday, Nov. 12 as he came away with two victories, one against Belmont Abbey and the other against then-No. 15 Oregon State. Against the Crusaders, Przybysz defeated Jake Glunt in a 11-2 major decision before battling in a much closer match against the Beavers. Facing Rodney Williams, Przybysz snapped a four-weight-class losing streak for the Mountaineers by defeating Williams by a 4-1 decision to catapult App State into winning the final six weight classes to take the match.

174 · Nick Kee · Laurinburg, N.C./Scotland

The junior 174-pounder to continues to rank well in the polls, coming in at No. 19 in InterMat this week. Kee continues to be the sole representative of the Southern Conference in InterMat's Top 20 for 174. He's also the only SoCon 174-pounder in the Wrestling Insider's Newsmagazine's Power Index rankings, coming in this week at No. 19. The Laurinburg native is coming off a career season last year, finishing 25-7 in the regular season. 

184 · David Peters-Logue · Record: 5-2 · Hillsborough, N.C./Orange
No. 22 (TrackWrestling) 

The junior 184-pounder had an impressive weekend campaign, winning two key matches by authority in Mountaineer Duals on Nov. 12. Peters-Logue made quick work of Belmont Abbey's wrestler, getting the 15-0 technical fall victory before having the highlight of the early season against then-No. 15 Oregon State later in the day. Battling then-No. 12 Corey Griego, the Hillsborough native battled back and forth in a neck-and-neck match before finally gaining the advantage and pinning Griego in 3:32. The pin gave Appalachian its third-straight weight class victory against the Beavers.

The senior heavyweight continued his strong play in Mountaineer Duals on Nov. 12, getting two wins to push his active win streak to four matches. Belmont Abbey did not have a heavyweight wrestler so Dejournette won by forfeit before taking on David Henry of Oregon State. With the Beavers trying to tie the score up with the final match, the weight fell on Dejournette to seal the victory for the Mountaineers. The Winston-Salem native worked a very technical match, keeping to the fundamentals and keeping himself out of dangerous positions to get a 12-4 major decision.

The Mountaineers will return to action as they head to the Keystone Classic in Philadelphia, Pa. on Sunday, Nov. 20. Wrestling returns to Varsity Gym on Sunday, Nov. 27 when Appalachian plays host to North Carolina, who last week was ranked No. 25 in the poll, but dropped slightly to lead the "others receiving votes" category in this week's poll.

Individual match prices will be $7 for adults and $3 for youth except for the Feb. 5 match against Chattanooga, which will be $10 for adults and $3 for youth.
