BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University women's basketball will play Coker at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in the Holmes Center in its first of two exhibitions.

About the Mountaineers
The Apps return 13-of-15 student-athlete from last season's 10-20 squad including the team's top two scorers in Joi Jones (13.0 ppg) and Madi Story (12.0 ppg). Appalachian also returns four of its top five leaders in points, rebounds, assists and steals. App State brings in four freshmen in Bayley Plummer, Mikaya Wilson, Brooklyn Allen and Armani Hampton. In addition, the Black and Gold will have two student-athletes in Cydni Cole and Q. Murray that sat out last season due to NCAA transfer rules. 

Scouting the Cobras
The Cobras finished 9-19 and 8-14 in the South Atlanic Conference in head coach Shannon Johnson's first season at the helm. Kendra Lambert returns as the leading scorer at 10.5 points per game and the Cobras' leader in 3-point field goals per game at 2.5. Coker ended the season on a five-game slide while having an overall mark of 4-9 on the road. 

Series History
Wednesday's contest is the first meeting between the Mountaineers and the Cobras.

The Mountaineers will have one more exhibition contest against Lenoir-Rhyne next Monday at 7 p.m. in the Holmes Center before opening up the regular season on Friday, Nov. 11 at DePaul.
