NEW ORLEANS - In the final rankings before regionals, Appalachian State University women's cross country stand at No. 15 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Southeast Regional Rankings announced on Monday. The women moved down one spot in week six's rankings.

App State remains as the only Sun Belt school featured on the Southeast Regional list. Reigning at No. 1 is ACC Champion NC State, followed by CAA Champion William & Mary in second and Kentucky in third.

The women seize a spot on the regional list after snatching their first-ever Sun Belt Conference Cross Country title on Saturday, Oct. 29 accumulating 43 team points, the lowest team score produced at the championship meet since 2010. All six Mountaineers finished inside the top-15 and swept the all-conference honors. 

Crossing the finish line first for Appalachian was Tristin Van Ord who ran a time of 17:37.50 to place second. Next was Emily Fedders who clocked a 5k PR of 18:24.30 to land in eighth. Rounding out the top-ten competitors of the morning was Torre Moser who produce a time of 18:38.50. App State's final three finishers were Hana Ratcliffe in 11th (18:38.50), Natalie Kile in 12th (18:44.00) and Kerry Leonard in 15th (18:54.30).

In addition to winning the championship, head coach Michael Curcio was crowned the Sun Belt Women's Coach of the Year due to his athlete's outstanding performance on the course.

The Black and Gold will compete in Cary, N.C. at the 3 Stripes Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 5. The women's 5k race starts at 11:30 a.m.
