Up Next: Apps Prep for Texas State, November

BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State returns to the practice field on Sunday afternoon rested and trying to improve on a perfect month. The Mountaineers went 4-0 in October – allowing all of one touchdown on defense – and are unbeaten halfway through Sun Belt Conference play.

Few wins during the Scott Satterfield era have been as sweet as Thursday night's 34-10 win at Georgia Southern. App fell behind 10-0 before reeling off 34 unanswered points in impressive and dominant fashion over their biggest rival.

The defense held GS to less than 100 yards of total offense before the final drive and the Eagles failed to produce an offensive touchdown at home for only the second time in 35 seasons. The offense churned out 299 yards rushing (it was over 300 before the final kneels) and four rushing TDs, two by quarterback Taylor Lamb.

App (6-2, 4-0) accomplished one of its goals with the win, becoming bowl eligible for the second time in as many season, but the main goal set in the preseason – winning a Sun Belt Championship – remains well within reach as November approaches.

UP NEXT: Texas State (2-5, 0-3) visits Kidd Brewer Stadium on Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff. The Bobcats are coming off a bye week and will try to rebound from a 27-3 loss at home to UL Lafayette. Texas State, had only 221 yards of offense in the loss, but have been explosive at times this season, including a 56-54 win over Ohio in triple OT to open the season.

The game is the first meeting between the two teams at the FBS level. The teams have met only once, both were FCS programs, a 41-34 App win in Boone in 2004.
