NEW ORLEANS - Appalachian State University men's cross country continue to hold the No. 12 position on the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Southeast Regional Team Rankings on Monday.
For the second week of the regular season, the Mountaineers remain as the only Sun Belt Conference school featured on the list.
There was not a lot of movement in the standings this week as Eastern Kentucky, Virginia, and NC State stayed put at one, two, and three. Also, the Mountaineers continue to hold the advantage over Davidson (No. 13), George Mason (No.14), and Liberty (No. 15).
Appalachian is coming off a spectacular weekend, sweeping the competition at the Mountains to Sea Duals held in Boone last Friday. Senior Chris Anderson claimed the individual title in the 6,400 meters with a time of 20:37.21. Finishing a few spots behind Anderson was Evan Georges in fourth (20:42.17) and Ryan Shannon in fifth (20:43.55). The Mountaineers stole six of the top 15 spots and out-ran Miami 20-41, UNCW 19-44, and Western Carolina 16-45 in dual meet competition.
