Box Score CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. –– Appalachian State University volleyball was swept by Ole Miss in its first of two matches on Saturday, 3-0 (13-25, 11-25, 24-26).
The Mountaineers' (2-10) losing streak hit nine after the loss to the Rebels (11-1). App State was led by Emma Longley who finished with 10 kills. Ashlyn Brown led the offense with 23 assists.
Defensively, Appalachian had two student-athletes finish with double-digit kills - Olivia Loeffler who tallied 11, while Kennedy Wilson collected 11.
The Black and Gold held an early lead against the Rebels, but Ole Miss was able to use a 13-3 run to open things up in the first set and take a 1-0 match lead with a 25-13 win.
Another 13-3 run in the second set would put Ole Miss up 22-9 and the Rebels would finish off App State 25-11 - looking for the sweep.
Appalachian fought back in the third set and would battle the Rebels until the end. With the score knotted at 19-19, a kill from Alana Shoff would put the Apps ahead.
There would be six more lead changes before Ole Miss got a kill and a Mountaineer error to finish off the sweep and win the third set, 26-24.
The Mountaineers will finish the Scenic City Showdown with its final match against Tennessee State.
