BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State University head softball coach Janice Savage has announced the 2016 fall schedule.
“I am really excited for the girls to get on the field this fall,” said head coach Savage. “ We have a lot of new faces who need some experience and I am very pleased with how our team has bonded and meshed together so far this fall.”
The softball team will play two doubleheaders in Boone at the Sywassink/Loyd Family Stadium and will play four games on the road.
The Mountaineers begin the autumn slate in Boone playing back-to-back games against Louisburg College on Sunday, Sept. 11. The first game starts at 1 p.m. and the second will begin at 3 p.m.
One week later, App State will travel to Milligan College, T.N. on Sunday, Sept. 18 to face Anderson University at 1 p.m. and will later play a match against ETSU at 3 p.m.
Six days later, App will roll down to Greensboro, N.C. on Saturday, Sept. 24 to play against UNCG at noon and UNCW at 5 p.m.
Lastly, Appalachian will conclude their fall line-up right back at Sywassink/Loyd Family Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 2 for a doubleheader against Milligan College. The first match starts at 1 p.m. and the second match will follow at 3 p.m.
The Mountaineers are looking forward to building off of the 2015 spring season and start the fall with high expectations. The top returner for Appalachian is utility Cara Parker who totaled a .346 batting average and collected 38 runs, 45 runs batted in, 54 hits, and 12 home runs.
Savage continued, “Putting the girls out on the field in game situations will be a good test for us to see what we need to continue to work on this fall.”
