App State fans, we heard you.
Last year, the Appalachian State Athletic Department asked you, the fans, to give us your input on ways we could improve your game day experience at Kidd Brewer Stadium. During the offseason, the survey results were compiled and we took your advice to heart and hope you'll like our improvements during the 2016 season as the Mountaineers strive for another bowl win and a Sun Belt Championship.
Leading up to the kickoff of the 2016 home opener (Old Dominion, Sept. 10), we'll reveal the upgrades and additions we've made in and around Kidd Brewer Stadium to make your experience more enjoyable.
Doug Gillin, Appalachian State Director of Athletics
"At the conclusion of last football season, we sent out a survey asking all of our fans to tell us what was important to them when they visited The Rock. We had an amazing response to our survey. We have been working hard over the past six months to identify opportunities to fulfill our fans requests. Over the next two weeks we will be announcing changes that we will be making, based on the input from our fans. We are always striving to create the best atmosphere and experience for our students, student-athletes, and fans.”
Fan Survey Improvement No. 2 – Stadium Accessibility
We have done our best to make Kidd Brewer as accessible and comfortable as possible for the 2016 season. Currently, a number of upgrades are underway in and around the stadium as we get set for the home opener on September 10 against Old Dominion.
Today, crews are installing 2,500 additional seats in the north end zone to give our Mountaineers the largest possible home field advantage. Aisles, handrails, and walls are getting a fresh coat of paint to improve the overall look and make Kidd Brewer Stadium safer. There is also fresh asphalt being put down on hill to provide a newer, safer walkway for fans who want to enjoy games on and around the berm.
With record crowds expected at times during the season, we've added additional security, bag checkers, and ticket takers to make entrance into Kidd Brewer as smooth as possible. The printed addition of adding “East Gate and West Gate” to our season tickets will help balance out the crowd flow into the stadium. We have also added more entry points on the east side of the stadium to make entry easier and quicker.
Our hope is that the little things all add up to 2016 being the best gameday experience you can remember at The Rock.
Fan Survey Improvement No. 1 – Concessions and Vendors
MIAMI GAME – We're aware that more needs to be done when the Hurricanes visit Boone (Sept. 17) in front of what is expected to be a record crowd at The Rock. Every upgrade we reveal over the coming weeks will be expanded further for the Miami game.
