BOONE, N.C. — In the 60th annual Carolinas-Virginias Team Matches, Appalachian State University women's golfers Hannah Craver (Winston-Salem, N.C./Reagan), Emily Stinson (Charlotte, N.C./Ardrey Kell) and Savanna Wood (Boone, N.C./Watauga) helped the Carolinas team to its seventh-straight victory on Wednesday.

Held on the River Course at River Landing Golf Club in Wallace, N.C., the team match is put on by the Carolinas, Virginia and West Virginia Golf Associations and pits the best golfers from the four states against each other. Selection to the respective teams is by invitation only and qualification is based on Carolina's Women's and Senior Women's player rankings, finish and participation in various events and captain's picks.

The 24-member Carolinas team is broken down into 14 regular players, eight seniors players (ages 50-plus) and two super senior players (ages 60-plus). Of the 14 regular players, no university was represented by more than two players except Appalachian State with three.

After winning five of 12 opening day matches on day one and seven of 12 on day two, the Carolinas team broke out of the gate on the third day to post a wire-to-wire 25-point victory (84-60) over the Virginias team.

Senior Stinson and junior Wood both finished with shutout victories on day three to get the accompanying three points for their team. Craver, also a junior, came in clutch for the Carolinas on day two, getting wins and the two and a half points in the effort.
