App State Ends Day Two of Sun Belt Championships

LAFAYETTE, La. – Appalachian State University men's track and field wrapped up the second day of the Sun Belt Conferece Championships on Saturday with 20 points - sitting in fifth place.

In the 100-meter dash, William Buckley advanced to the finals with a seventh-place finish in the prelims with a time of 10.58. Ryan Hastings took second in the 800-meter prelims with a time of 1:52.31 to qualify for the finals tomorrow.

In the hurdles, Stanley Broaden finished with the top time in the 110-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 14.08 - good for sixth all-time in program history - while also finishing third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 53.06. Brandon Smith also qualified in the 400 hurdles with a time of 54.21 - finishing in eighth.

Michael Ellis and Jacob Sears finished second and third, respectively, in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Ellis finished with a time of 9:10.89, while Sears crossed the line at 9:14.04.

In the field, Nathan Milch took home third-place in the shot put with a personal-best throw of 56-6 - good for third all-time in program history.

The championships will conclude tomorrow beginning with the discus at 10 a.m. and finish with the 4x400-meter relay.
