BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State University women's track and field will host the Mountaineer Open on Saturday, April 30 in Boone.
The meet will mark the first of the outdoor season to be hosted by the Mountaineers this season. The following teams will be making their way to the High Country: Southern Wesleyan, Tennessee Wesleyan, Emmanuel (GA), Voorhees, Augusta, Lenoir-Rhyne, Salem College, Gardner-Webb, College of Charleston, Morehead State, Montreat, Anderson, High Point, Charlotte, VMI, Wingate, Carson Newman, Lincoln Memorial, Guilford, Bryan and UNCG.
Last weekend, the Mountaineers posted many top performances including Tristin Van Ord who competed at the Virginia Challenge this weekend and ran the 5,000-meter race today. Van Ord finished with a time of 16:23.24 - good for second all-time in the program record book. The time also places Van Ord 37th on the NCAA East Qualifying list.
At the War Eagle Invitational, Samantha Campanaro led App State with a second-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:00.90. TeammateHana Ratcliffe came in third-place and finishes with a time of 11:04.19.
The App State 4x400-meter relay team of Greeley, Catherine Crawford, Micah Hanks and Howell took third with a time of 3:54.99.
