BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State University men's track and field will host its first meet of the outdoor season on Saturday, April 30 with the Mountaineer Open.
The meet will mark the first of the outdoor season to be hosted by the Mountaineers this season. The following teams will be making their way to the High Country: Southern Wesleyan, Tennessee Wesleyan, Emmanuel (GA), Voorhees, Augusta, Lenoir-Rhyne, Salem College, Gardner-Webb, College of Charleston, Morehead State, Montreat, Anderson, High Point, Charlotte, VMI, Wingate, Carson Newman, Lincoln Memorial, Guilford, Bryan and UNCG.
At the War Eagle Invitational, the Mountaineers were led by Will Henderson who placed first in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:58.00. Evan Georges took fifth with a time of 3:59.93.
In the 110-meter hurdles, Stanley Broaden finished eighth 14.29. Broaden took second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 51.86. Andrew Spear took eighth in the 400-meter race and finished with a time of 54.04.
Ryan Hastings who took third in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:50.79. Peter Ovendorf finished eighth with a time of 1:54.02.
The Apps won the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:14.19. The team consisted of Ovendorf, Brandon Smith, Broaden and Hastings.
Phillip Thomas took third in the pole vault with a height of 16-6.75. John Leonard finished ninth in the shot put with a throw of 48-2.75.
