Men's Track and Field Ready for Charlotte Invite

BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State University men's track and field will return to action after a two weeks of practice. The App State Outdoor Open scheduled for Thursday, April 8 was cancelled due to impending weather conditions.

The Charlotte Invite will get started on Friday, April 15 at 2 p.m. and will conclude on Saturday, April 16 at 4:30 p.m.

The Mountaineers were last in action at the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla. and VertKlasse Meeting in High Point, N.C. At the VertKlasse, Phillip Thomas took sixth in group "A" pole vault after clearing 15-7.25. Will Henderson took fifth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:58.85.

In the pole vault group "B", Matt Layne took second-place after clearing 15-1.75 feet and teammate Patrick Quinn finished in fifth with a vault of 14-2 feet. Both Nick Hinton and Cole Finch finished back-to-back in fourth and fifth-place, respectively, in the group "B" high jump.

At the Florida Relays, Stanley Broaden took seventh in the 400-meter hurdles at the Florida Relays with a time of 51.56 for a new season's best. For the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Michael Ellis placed 12th with a time of 9:09.95.

The Mountaineers' sprint medley group of Marshall McRaeWilliam Buckley, Harris and Ryan Hastings took fourth place with a time of 3:23.44.

In the shot put, Nathan Milch took sixth place with a throw of 54-9.25, while teammate Ellsworth Parham took seventh with a distance of 54-6.
