NOTING TUESDAY'S GAME
• Appalachian State went 1-3 in four road games last week (Tuesday at North Carolina A&T, Friday-Sunday at Texas State) and, after playing UNC Asheville on Tuesday, returns to the road for an Easter weekend Sun Belt Conference series at UL Monroe (Thursday-Saturday).

• Appalachian has won each of its last two mid-week contests, including an 8-0 shutout win over UNCA on March 9 in Forest City, N.C.

• The 8-0 triumph over UNCA two weeks ago was perhaps App State's finest all-around performance of the season. The Mountaineers' eight runs were their second-most in any game this season and the shutout was one of two that they have tossed in 2016.

• Pitching has been at a premium for the Mountaineers in mid-week contests this season as they have compiled a 3.60 ERA and .216 opponents' batting average in four mid-week affairs.

• Offensively, Appalachian hit a season-high four home runs in last week's mid-week game at N.C. A&T but was limited to just two total runs in the three-game weekend series at Texas State. After scoring twice in the second inning of Friday's series opener at Texas State, the Mountaineers did not plate a run over the final 25.1 stanzas of the three-game set.

• UNC Asheville carries a 10-game losing streak into Tuesday's contest. Four of the Bulldogs' 10-straight defeats have come by two runs or less.

• Neither team has had much success in close ballgames this season. Both clubs are 1-5 in games decided by two runs or less.

• Appalachian State's 8-0 win over UNCA on March 9 was the Mountaineers' 15th win in their last 16 matchups against the Bulldogs. App State leads the all-time series, which dates back to 1985, 41-21.
