BOONE, N.C. -- Appalachian State University men's tennis (4-6) will travel to St. Augustine, Fla., for a 3 p.m. match against Flagler (9-1).
The Mountaineers are coming off a 6-1 over Bethun-Cookman on Monday. Appalachin captured the doubles point before claiming five of six singles matches.
Melissa Machado leads the team with four singles victories while Gabrielle Wreder is the other student-athlete with at least three victories in doubles compeititon. After going 5-1 in singles action on Monday, the Apps are now 18-37.
The tandem of Taylor Bygrave and Mackenzie LaSure are still leading the team with three victories in doubles competition. Bygrave is also 2-1 with partner Megan Mullen as the two have teamed up for the past three contests.
Flagler is riding high on a nine-game win streak after most recently defeating Lander on Sunday, 8-1. Of those nine wins, five have been against ranked opponents, incluidng a win over No. 3 Leo. Flagler is a part of the Peach Belt Conference.
Four student-athletes have at least 10 wins in singles play for the Saints, with Laura Kelly boasting a solid mark of 15-2 while on an eight-match win streak. Kelly Burge and Kelly Stewart are right behind with 14 wins apiece.
Kelly and Stewart also lead the team in doubles action with a record of 12-2 thanks in large part to a current nine-match win streak. Flagler is 73-31(.702) in singles action and 35-11 in doubles play (.761).
App State's next match will be against Richmond on Friday at 10 a.m. in Daytona, Fla.
