Women's Tennis to Play Two Matches in Two Days
BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University women's tennis (2-5) looks to snap a two-game slide to USC Upstate at the Yonahlahsee Tennis Club (0-9)  before heading to Winston-Salem for a 4 p.m. match against No. 27 Wake Forest (10-2).

The Mountaineer are coming off a pair of setbacks last weekend against nationally-ranked division III Emory (6-1) on Satudary and a 5-2 setback on Sunday to Western Carolina.

Rebecca Morse was the lone student-athlete to earn a point on Friday as she picked up her first collegiate singles victory.  After falling in the doubles portion to WCU, Mackenzie LaSure and Melissa Machado both picked up singles wins to give App State its only points of the contest.

LaSure and Machado lead the team in singles competition with a pair of victories while Taylor Bygrave and LaSure lead the team in doubles action with three of the five wins overall.

USC Upstate has lost nine-straight matches to start the season. Most recently, the Spartans fell to Wofford on Wednesday in a 4-3 decision in Spartanburg, S.C.

Vale Arama and Anna Zoske lead the Spartans with three wins apiece in single play, while the tandem of Filippa Sigaki and Zoske are leading USC Upstate in doubles with five victories.

The Demon Deacons have lost two out of their last three matches have winning the first 10 contests of the season. WF is coming off a close 4-3 setback to No. 17 South Carolina on Sunday at home.

Six student-athletes have recorded at least 15 wins in singles competition with Emma Davis boasting a solid 22-5 mark while Joanna Zalewski is 19-4, including an 11-1 record at the No. 1 spot. WF is 128-56 (.696) in singles compeition overall.

Luisa Fernandez/Andrea Retolaza leads doubles play with a 17-7 mark while four other tandems have notched at least five wins under their belt. The Demon Deacons are 52-32 (.619) in doubles action this season.

Last season, Wake Forest was one of two ranked teams the Apps faced, as WF took home a 7-0 win over the Black and Gold.

App State will have a quick turnaround with a 2 p.m. match in Daytona,Florida against Bethune-Cookman.
