BOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State University wrestling was invited to compete in the NWCA National Championship Duals Series after winning a share of the Southern Conference Title. The Mountaineers (11-4, 6-1 SoCon) will travel to Bloomington, Ind. to take Indiana (6-6, 3-6 Big Ten). Match time is set for 1:00 p.m.

App State will cap its regular season with its first ever appearance in the NWCA National Championship Duals Series. The Mountaineers remain in the top 25 of the Intermat Wrestling poll at the No. 25 spot. Appalachian and Indiana both received votes in the USA Today/ NWCA poll with App state getting 14 votes and Indiana getting four.

LOOKING BACK: The Apps were in action last Thursday and Friday for matches against VMI and No. 5 Missouri. The Mountaineers defeated VMI, 27-9, to claim a share of the Southern Conference regular season title. Appalachian fell the following day to the Tigers, 41-6, in its final home match.

INDIANA: Indiana enters the match with a 6-6 overall record and a 3-6 mark in the Big Ten. The Hoosiers feature two wrestlers in the top 25 in 125-pounder No. 19 Elijah Oliver and 174-pounder No. 11 Nate Jackson. Both wrestlers have won 26 matches this season.

Indiana won the only other previous meeting between the two schools with a 38-9 victory in 2006.

2016 Arby's SoCon Wrestling Championship

The Southern Conference Wrestling Championship will be held in Asheville, N.C. in Kimmel Arena on March 5. The Doors Open at 9:00 a.m. and wrestling will begin at 10:00 a.m. The Championship round starts at 7:00 p.m. with an award ceremony immediately following the matches.
