Hot-Shooting Mavericks Push Past Men's Hoops
Box Score ARLINGTON, Texas - Appalachian State University men's basketball struggled to shoot the ball on Saturday night - finishing just 30.2 percent on 19-for-63 shooting from the floor, while UT Arlington scorched the nets to the tune of 55.2 percent (37-for-67) to move past App State 91-60.

The Mountaineers (6-19, 4-10 Sun Belt) also struggled from long range and only connected on six of their 33 attempts on the night. Appalachian managed to get the foul line quite often against the Mavericks (17-7, 8-5 Sun Belt) but shot just 16-for-30 from the charity stripe.

Shining for the Black and Gold was sophomore forward Griffin Kinney (Delaware, Ohio/Fork Union Military Academy) who finished with a career-high 15 points on 5-for-9 shooting from the floor. Kinney also chipped in five free throws and five rebounds in the effort. Kinney was one of two Mountaineers to finish in double-figures as freshman guard Emarius Logan (Columbia, S.C./White Knoll) tallied 12.

Jalen Jones led UTA with 18 points, while Erick Neal finished with 11 and Kaelon Wilson notched 10.

With the score knotted at 5-5, the Mavericks ripped off an 18-4 run to jump out in front of the Mountaineers 23-9 right before the under 12 minute media timeout. With the Apps down 25-13, the Mavs increased their lead with the help of a 10-0 run and would end up leading at the half 49-21.

The Mavs would continue its efficient offensive effort in the second half - increasing their lead to a game-high 34 points before pushing past Appalachian State by a final score of 91-60.

The Mountaineers' Matt O'Boyle (Peoria, Ariz./Sunrise Mountain/Pima Community College) would finish the game leading the team in rebounds with six, while also contributing eight points off the bench. Ronshad Shabazz (Raleigh, N.C./Huntington Prep (W.V.)) also finished with eight points on the night.

Appalachian State will return to action on Thursday, Feb. 18 when they host South Alabama from the Holmes Center at 7:30 p.m.
