Boone, N.C. - Appalachian State University women's track and field will travel to Huntington, W.V. this Friday and Saturday for the Chipotle Marshall Invitational at Jeff Small Track inside the Chris Cline Athletics Complex.
Friday, action will get underway at 5 p.m. with the men's and women's pole vault, the men's and women's weight throw as well as the men's and women's triple jump. Saturday, the first events will begin at 9 a.m. and are the men's and women's high jump.
At last weekend's Buccaneer Invitational hosted by ETSU, the Mountaineers won five events and placed in the top three for 14 of them.
Tristin Van Ord won the 5,000 (17:13.99), Elisa Sargent, Brooke Brekke, Shelby Howell, and Torre Moser took first in the distance medley relay (12:07.72), Hunter Welborn won the high jump (5-7), Brianna Tate took first in the shot put (49-3.50), and Kaytlyn Gill won the long jump (19-8).
Second-place finishers included Van Ord in the mile (5:00.56), Samantha Campanaro in the 5,000 (17:49.25), and Tate in the weight throw (54-7.25). Those who took home third place included Darlene Girardeau in the 60-meter dash (7.66), Dana Cox in the 5,000 (17:53.66), both Taylor Drummonds and Hannah Emery in the pole vault (11-3.75), Chelsey Hargrave in the triple jump (39-9.75), and Girardeau in the long jump (19-6.25).
