BOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State University women's basketball head coach
Angel Elderkin announced on Tuesday that she will hold a Play4Kay Challenge leading up to the Mountaineers' annual Play4Kay game versus Troy on Saturday, Feb. 20 at the Holmes Center.
Beginning on Tuesday night's
Mountaineer Talk, Elderkin will issue a daily challenge to an individual or group to run a designated amount within 24 hours or make a donation to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Much like the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, those who are challenged by Elderkin are also encouraged to challenge others and all participants should post proof of completion through social media.
In addition, several campus and community groups will ride stationary bikes in support of Play4Kay during the Feb. 16 edition of
Mountaineer Talk at Appalachian Mountain Brewery in Boone. Those interested in sponsoring those groups can contact Appalachian State assistant director of promotions and fan engagement
Shae Wesley at
wesleysm@appstate.edu.
