The Apps started the second half of the Sun Belt schedule with an impressive 76-59 victory over second-place UL-L on Thursday at the Holmes Center. Madi Story scored a team-high 23 points with six boards and five assists. KeKe Cooper scored 13 points on an efficient 5-for-8 shooting from the field and six rebounds. The Apps shot a season-best 81.4 percent (22-for-27) from the free throw line.
A Win for App State Would
• Bring its record to 8-13 and 5-7 in the Sun Belt.
• Give the Mountaineers their first weekend sweep in the Sun Belt.
• Push the Mountaineers record to 6-4 at the Holmes Center.
• Move the Apps to 4-0 all-time against the Warhawks.
• Drop the Warhawks to 9-12 overall and 3-9 in the Sun Belt.

Five Things to Watch for vs. UL Monroe
• See if Appalachian can stay consistent with its play against the Warhawks. Following a victory, the Mountaineers are 2-4 and averaging just 60.8 points per game while opponents are scoring 69.5 points per game.
• Kaila Craven scored 14 points in the first meeting against the Warhawks in the first meeting. The freshman guard has scored in double figures in just one of the last six games. She if she can break out of the scoring slump against ULM.
• Alayshia Hunter is averaging 16.9 ppg on a solid 53.5 shooting clip from the field, while the rest of the team is shooting just 33.7 percent from the field. Watch if the Apps defense can prevent from another ULM student-athlete contribute in the scoring mix.
• Appalachian has improved on its 3-point shooting over the last six games. The Mountaineers have shot 32.6 percent from downtown, which is a step up from the 26.8 shooting percentage from beyond the arc for the season.
• In the seven wins, App State has assisted on nearly 50 percent of its field goals 14.3/28.8 compared to the 44 percent in the setbacks.
Scouting UL Lafayette (9-11, 3-8 SBC)
• UL Monroe is 9-11 overall and 3-8 in conference play after falling to rival ULL, 52-40, on Tuesday.
• ULM has lossed three of its last four overall and four of its last five on the road.
• The Warhawks have struggled on the road with a 2-7 record.
• Appalachian is 3-0 all-time against the Warhawks after a close 57-54 victory at ULM to open Sun Belt play on Dec. 31.
• Craven led the team with 14 points off the bench while Jones chipped in with 10.
• The Mountaineers held the hosts to 33.3 percent shooting from the field and forced 19 turnovers while turning the ball over just 12 times.
• Alayshia Hunter leads the team in scoring averaging 16.9 ppg on 53.5 shooting from the floor. Hunter is third in the conference in scoring and fourth in field goal percentage.
• Daja Chase is one of the top rebounders in the conference corralling down a team-high 8.5 rpg.
