MOBILE, Ala. – Appalachian State University men's basketball picked up a big win on the road on Thursday at Troy and will look to continue its winning ways on Saturday, Jan. 30 at South Alabama. Tip time against the Jaguars is slated for 8:05 p.m. ET.

LAST TIME OUT
• App State would bounce back in a big way on the road at Troy on Thursday.
• Appalachian held a lead for the majority of the game and its largest deficit overcome would be just three points.
• The Sun Belt's leading scorer, Frank Eaves, would lead the Apps with 18 points on the night.
• Griffin Kinney would turn in a career night on the glass as the sophomore would grab a career-high 10 rebounds and narrowly miss a double-double. Kinney finished with nine points.
• Providing huge help off the Mountaineer bench was Jacob Lawson and Matt O'Boyle. Lawson turned in a great effort of 13 points, five rebounds and three blocked shots, while O'Boyle was perfect on three attempts from behind the arc.
• With just a one-point advantage, both Eaves and Ronshad Shabazz would hit two free throws each to ice the game and seal a 75-71 win.
SERIES HISTORY
• Appalachian State and South Alabama met for the first time in their program's history last season.
• The series is tied 1-1 with both teams winning a game on their home court.
• App State's win last year came on Jan. 22, 2015 in a 64-53 triumph over the Jags.
• In two games against USA, Frank Eaves is leading the Mountaineers with 18 points per game, while Burgess chipped in 11.5 ppg and Dustin Clarke tallied 11 ppg.
SCOUTING THE JAGUARS
• South Alabama enters Saturday's contest with an 8-12 overall record, including a 3-6 mark in league play.
• USA has been up and down in league play thus far and is coming off of a road win to in state rival Troy, 66-58.
• The Jags began conference play with back-to-back losses to Little Rock and A-State before picking up a win over Georgia Southern.
• Two more losses in a row to Georgia State and Texas State would lead into a big 88-85 win over UT Arlington.
• Prior to the road win at Troy, USA dropped two at ULL and ULM.
• The Jaguars boast two student-athletes with double-figure scoring outputs with Ken Williams and Georgi Boyanov.
• Williams leads the squad with 14.2 points per game, while Boyanov chips in 10.9 per.
• Boyanov also leads the Jags in rebounding and corrals 7.6 rebounds a game - leading the team by a wide margin with 152 total rebounds.
• For the season, USA carries a -0.2 rebounding margin - 37 rebounds per game.
• South Alabama outshoots its opponent from long range - connecting on just 33.2 percent of threes taken.
• However, they are outshot from the field 41.7 percent to their oppositions 43.4 percent.
• Only three student-athletes for the Jags have started each game they have played, while two have started and played in all 20. The Jags have mixed with their starting rotation this season
