BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University men's track and field will be hosting its second meet of the 2015-16 indoor season Saturday with the Mountaineer Open inside Holmes Convocation Center and Varsity Gym.
App State is one of nine schools competing this weekend including Tusculum, Piedmont, Lenoir-Rhyne, Mars Hill, Milligan, Lees-McRae, St. Andrews, and Lincoln Memorial. Action will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the weight throw, shot put, pole vault, and high jump in Varsity and the long jump and triple jump in Holmes.
The Mountaineers were last in action Jan. 21-22 when they sent Jackson Powers and Benjamin Brunson to North Carolina's Tobacco Road Multis. There, Powers placed seventh with 2,270 points and Brunson took home eighth in his first collegiate heptathlon with 2,079 points.
When competing as a team, the Black and Gold finished with five in the top five at the Kentucky Invitational. They beat Mississippi 87-52, but fell to Kentucky, 63-87.
