BOONE, N.C. - Two future Appalachian State University women's basketball student-athletes were nominated for the 2016 McDonald's All-American game, the organization announced on Wednesday.
Bayley Plummer and
Mikaya Wilson were nominated to the prestigious list that features standouts such as Candace Parker and Elena Della Donne, while 50 players that made the team went on to play in the WNBA.
Plummer and and Wilson are two of nine student-athletes from North Carolina that were nominated. The App State commitments are two of four signees that look to make an immediate impact to the program next season along with Brooklyn Allen and Armani Hampton.
Bayley Plummer | 6-5 | Forward | East Davidson High School | Thomasville, N.C.Plummer, ranked as the 31st best prospect in North Carolina according to Max Preps, is having another tremendous season at East Davidson where she is averaging nearly a triple-double averaging 19.5 points, 15.4 rebounds and a staggering 8.4 blocks per game. She dominated earlier this season in a game where she poured in 28 points, 23 rebounds and an eye-catching 11 swats. The future Mountaineer has helped lead her team to a 14-0 record thus far.
Before her senior season, Plummer was named Conference Player of the Year during her sophomore campaign and Player of the Year in District 7 her junior season. She also earned her team's Most Valuable Player award three consecutive years in basketball and garnered all-state honors during her freshman and sophomore seasons. The forward has put up impressive numbers in her first three seasons, averaging at least 15 points, 13 boards, and 6 blocks per game. Her best season came when she turned in career highs in points (16.4), rebounds (14.6), and blocks (7.2) per contest. A well-rounded athlete, she has earned all-conference awards in golf and all-state and all-conference awards in softball.

Mikaya Wilson | 5-7 | Guard | Knightdale High School | Knightdale, N.C.Ranked as the 36th best prospect in North Carolina according to Max Preps, Wilson is stuffing the stat sheet pouring in 15.1 points, 8.0 assists, 6.7 rebounds and 3.9 steals per game at the guard position. Wilson has her team boasting a solid 9-3 mark with a 3-1 record in Knightdale's conference.
Entering her final year at Knightdale, Wilson has been a multi-sport letterwinner at Knightdale (four in basketball, one in track and field and one in volleyball). Wilson has put together an impressive high school resume, earning All Conference honors her freshman, sophomore and junior seasons. The future Mountaineer was also the three-time Most Valuable Player on her squad. A true student-athlete, she has been recognized on several all-academic teams in her conference. The in-state native averaged 16 points, 6.3 rebounds, 7.1 assists, and 5.4 steals per game her junior campaign. Wilson played her travel ball on the Carolina All Stars under Porshe Jones with future teammate, Armani Hampton.

The 2016 All-American games will be played on March 30 at the United Airlines Center in Chicago, Ill. A final roster will be announced in the coming months.
