BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State University men's basketball returns to the court on Thursday, Jan. 7 when it hosts the UT Arlington Mavericks. The men's game will be played as the second game of a doubleheader with the women's team. Tip for the men's game is slated for 7:30 p.m.
As part of the game, it will be High Country Thursday. A group ticket rate will be applied to those who live in the High Country – just show your ID at the game! It will also be Skier Appreciation Night. A group ticket admission for all those that present a valid lift ticket at the door the day of the game.
At halftime, there will be a scrimmage from the Might Mountaineers youth basketball team.

SERIES HISTORY
• After having not met for 32 years, UT Arlington and Appalachian State played twice in less than a month last season. App State holds a 2-1 record all time against UTA.
• The Mavericks took the first game of the season series in a 13-point win, 81-68, in Arlington on Feb. 19.
• Appalachian took the second game in the series finale in Boone, 72-60.
• The win over the Mavs last year ended the App State's season on a three-game winning streak.
• Following today's contest, App State will play the Mavs again in Arlington on Feb. 13.
SCOUTING THE MAVERICKS
• UT Arlington enters Thursday's tilt with an impressive 11-2 overall record and 2-0 mark in Sun Belt play.
• Thus far, UTA owns wins at Ohio State (73-68) and at Memphis (68-64). The Mavs took Texas to overtime, but fell 80-73.
• The Mavericks are led by sophomore Kevin Hervey who has averaged 18.1 points per game so far to go along with 9.8 rebounds.
• UTA's scoring margin holds strong at +16.3 - averaging 81.7 points per game.
• The Mavs are currently outrebounding their opponents on average - 45.7 to 34.2. Their rebounding margin of +11.5 is good for ninth nationally.
• An extremely stingy defense, UTA allows just 65.4 points per game and holds opponents to just 39.6 percent from the field and 30.4 percent from long range.
