LAFAYETTE, La. – Appalachian State University men's basketball will wrap up its first Sun Belt Conference road trip of the season at UL Lafayette on Saturday, Jan. 2. Tip is slated for 8:15 p.m. from the Cajundome.
Last time out, freshman Bennett Holley broke through for a career-high 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including 3-of-6 from long range. Holley was one of three Mountaineers' student-athletes to finish in double figures in App State's 72-56 loss at UL Monroe on Thursday.
SERIES HISTORY
• Last season, Appalachian and UL Lafayette met for the first time in their program's history.
• The Ragin' Cajuns won both games in Lafayette and in Boone.
• After playing at ULL on Saturday, App State will welcome the Ragin' Cajuns to Boone on Feb. 4.
SCOUTING THE RAGIN' CAJUNS
• The preseason Sun Belt Conference favorites come into the contest sporting a 4-6 overall record and 0-1 mark in conference play.
• Preseason Player of the Year Shawn Long leads the Cajuns in scoring with 18.2 points per game.
• Long is also averaging a team-best 11.9 rebounds per game good for a double-double per game average.
• The Cajuns are scoring at a high rate with 84.8 points per game, but are also allowing 80.1 per game to their opponents.
• ULL has shot 45.1 percent from the field, but just 28.4 percent from beyond the arc this season.
• As a team, the Cajuns have managed a +6.9 rebounding margin having generated 43.1 rebounds per game.
• Most recently, ULL is coming off of a 79-69 win over New Orleans, which snapped a three-game losing streak.
• Over the course of the losing streak, the Cajuns were on the road at Louisiana Tech and out on the left coast against UCLA and Pepperdine.
