BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State University men's basketball will start up conference play on the road on Thursday, Dec. 31 at UL Monroe. Tip time is slated for 3 p.m. EST from Monroe, La.
App State will look to snap a six-game losing skid on Thursday when they take on the Warhawks from Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
The Mountaineers are still led offensively by Frank Eaves who continues to lead the Sun Belt in scoring and is 27th nationally (20.1 ppg). Last time out, Ronshad Shabazz netted a career-high 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting at No. 7 North Carolina.
SERIES HISTORY
• Last season both the Mountaineers and Warhawks split their two-game series.
• The first all-time meeting between both programs came in Monroe on Feb. 14 and the Warkhawks prevailed 69-58.
• Later in the season on Feb. 28, App State got the better of UL Monroe and downed the Warhawks by 23 points, 66-43.
• Last year's win over ULM marked the only time all season that the Mountaineers held their opponent to less than 50 points. It also tied ULM's season-low for points in a game.
• All time against opponents from the state of Louisiana, the Mountaineers are 1-9. The lone win coming last year at home against UL Monroe.

• UL Monroe enters Thursday's matchup with a 5-7 record and a 1-0 record in the Sun Belt with a 81-70 win over UL Lafayette.
• ULM has also won all four of its home games this season.
• The Warhawks are led offensively by Majok Deng who is leading the team in scoring this season (20.0 ppg).
• As a team, the Warhawks have scored at a high rate, sporting a 45.4 percent from the field.
• Despite a high field goal percentage, ULM shoots just 32.0 percent from three-point range.
• Over the course of the season, the Warhawks have carried a +4.4 rebounding margin over their opponents.
